Art is an Option was approached to help highlight the many fantastic places for eating out in and around Stirling. Glenburgie Distillery was founded in 1810. In 2004 an entire new building was opened adjacent to the old distillery. The new distillery is a state of the art facility capable of producing the historic taste of this wonderful malt whisky in a 21st century working environment. This new ergonomic building has a single working platform and central control workstation. Clear visibility is a key feature of the interior design so when Art is an Option were asked to design and build an exhibition on the main working area of the distillery we felt it was essential we complemented these values in our design.
We elected to use one of the stylish Fairfield Display Systems which combine a quality look along within a flexible frame work so the exhibition would inform and enrich this working environment without hindering movement around the working … Read More »
Allied Distillers / Chivas wanted their Dumbarton offices to show-case their impressive portfolio of brands including; Ballantine’s, Teacher’s and Laphroaig. Drawing from their impressive product photography Art is an Option branded the main public areas of the Kilmalid Facility at Dumbarton. Large vertical banners were hung in the buildings impressive atrium, while subtle branding was used on the central glass lift. The brand identities were used tastefully throughout the building to build the brand experience without compromising the inherent quality. A pop-up moveable display was created to be used when appropriate in the reception area.
For the last four years Art is an Option have designed and set up Central Scotland’s stand at the Annual Visit Scotland Expo. The Central Scotland’s portion of the exhibition incorporates the Stirling and Clackmannanshire Council areas including; Deanston Distillery, Blairdrummond Safari Park, Loch Katrine Experience, the Wallace Monument to mention a few. Our goal was to use strong graphics and photography to promote the wider Stirling area as a holiday destination. We devised the exhibition as a modular system of Exhibition Banners produced in the high resolution hydrasol material with crystal laminate. Each banner is 950mm x 2340mm and are set into the Visit Scotland’s “Shell System”, the entire graphics created a wall of images extending for an impressive 32 metres.
Glass at the Glass works was organised by Clackmannanshire Council Museum Services. This four week exhibition was held in OI (Previously United Glass) to present the history of glass and also celebrate its contemporary uses.
Art is an Option worked closely with Museum Services to plan the exhibition space and produce all the graphics for the exhibition. Part of the challenge and the reward was locating the glass artefacts to make best use of natural and artificial lighting while still making sure the space engaged with and informed visitors.
Large display posters and leaflets were widely distributed to ensure the exhibition was well attended and enjoyed my many.
This client was recommended by Heathfield Foods who we do a considerable amount of food packaging for. The project was designed as a franchise operation. Jonny Texas Ribs bought the product from Heathfield using their own unique barbeque recipe. The product was available to franchises along with a full support package of carry-out boxes and marketing materials.
Art is an Option developed the logo and developed the carry-out packaging. The visual identity was then further developed through a series of promotional posters which formed a part of the marketing support package.
We were asked by Diageo to produce a series of brand technical manuals. The objective of the diageo manuals was two-fold.
Firstly the manuals were intended to hold the sensitive product information on each brands specific ingredients etc. For this element of the job we supplied A4 branded shells which we supplied as pre-printed sheets. This allowed us to supply quality branded paper while still enabling the sensitive information to be laser printed securely within the Diageo brand technical centre.
The second function was to create quality folders, tab-dividers and colour swatches showing specified brand colours. Each of the manuals had to capture the quality of these iconic brands and therefore needed to be produced to exact pantone colours.
Diageo manuals were produced for each of the following: Gilbey’s Gin, Gordon’s Gin, Gordon’s Sloe Gin, Malibu, Pimm’s, Archers, Smirnoff, Tanqueray and Johnnie Walker.

Recycling is at the heart of Ace’s business. With their reach stretching across Scotland, they needed a website that was strong enough to back them up. Designing a platform that allows Ace to promote their connections to business and the community and to further promote their worthwhile causes such as their for CARERS campaign allowing them to extend their reach as far and as wide as possible.
Ace’s website is another strong tool in their arsenal to keep their business at the forefront of the recycling services.
Art is an Option has a long standing relationship with Barum & Dewar who are a global solutions and packaging company. This specific project was to help promote their very high end protective packaging. Barum & Dewar specialize in packaging where the absolute safety of a product which is to be transported is paramount. Our designs had to both articulate and reflect their uncompromising pursuit of quality, allied with the highest standards of delivery. This complex but temporary exhibition is used at trade shows to promote Barum & Dewar, Art is an Option designed the graphics and collaborated with Bray Leino who did the manufacture and fitting.
Alloa has long been associated with the brewing industry. In the 19th and 20th centuries there were at least nine major breweries producing ales. There were several distilleries and a thriving glass works. Dark Alloa Lager is a testament to this fine heritage. Following our design of the Forth Brewery logo we moved on to designing the company’s premier bottled lager.
Art is an Option designed the Forth Brewery label based Scottish iconography which is blended together with and an image of the old Alloa Pier. The bottle label is printed on effervescent metallic gold paper. This is over printed in 5 colours to create an eye-catching label.
