Art is an Option was approached by Heathfield Foods to design a range of packaging for frozen pork ribs. These were intended for export to a range of European countries and for sale in the UK. Good design was essential; however project management also played a key part of delivering this product to market.
We worked with our client and their major customers to create a new “Real Ribs” which is used as an overarching brand. Within this brand each variation of the Frozen Food Packaging had to be tailored to the specific flavour and weight of each product. To help achieve the high impact we wanted Art is an Option commissioned and art directed one of Scotland’s leading food photographers and a food stylist. One of our clients, Braden Limited developed a new product called Protex-H which they wanted to bring to market. The product uses Heat Shock Technology (HST) which helps the body to deal with the stress incurred during and after international travel and after many sporting activities.
An intrinsic part of the overall brand is the Packaging which is displayed on all marketing, advertising, leaflets and on the website. The Protex-H packaging therefore reflects the brand values with the look and energy from the logotype.
Although the product is fully organic we made a decision to manufacture to a very high specification using best features of Pharmaceutical Packaging. The boxes have tramper proof ends and all necessary information on the boxes; we feel this care reflects the special qualities of Protex-H.
This client was recommended by Heathfield Foods who we do a considerable amount of food packaging for. The project was designed as a franchise operation. Jonny Texas Ribs bought the product from Heathfield using their own unique barbeque recipe. The product was available to franchises along with a full support package of carry-out boxes and marketing materials.
Art is an Option developed the logo and developed the carry-out packaging. The visual identity was then further developed through a series of promotional posters which formed a part of the marketing support package.
Alloa has long been associated with the brewing industry. In the 19th and 20th centuries there were at least nine major breweries producing ales. There were several distilleries and a thriving glass works. Dark Alloa Lager is a testament to this fine heritage. Following our design of the Forth Brewery logo we moved on to designing the company’s premier bottled lager.
Art is an Option designed the Forth Brewery label based Scottish iconography which is blended together with and an image of the old Alloa Pier.The bottle label is printed on effervescent metallic gold paper. This is over printed in 5 colours to create an eye-catching label.
The Ochil Soap Company is based on the slopes of the Ochil Hills, a beautiful Scottish landscape that has inspired this natural product. All their soaps are made from raw ingredients, using the cold process for soap making. Their candles are lovingly made from a beautiful blend of Natural Oils & Butters with Soy Wax. The Ochil Soap Company approached Art is an Option to help develop packaging for a new range of soaps and candles. The goal was to create a packaging solution for their new Siabann Range.
The packaging obviously needed to reflect the handmade luxury of the product, while remaining relatively cost effective. A board game based on the life and works of Robert Burns. Inspired by the client’s dream and family knowledge of the Bard, Art is an Option developed the game’s design through numerous prototypes to allow the client to test-market and develop it. The game is designed for up to 8 players contains over 150 questions. The overall packaging has an outer sleeve which can be adapted so it can be customised for specific retailers. While the box contains: Playing Board, 2 sets of questions, 8 player pieces, a die and a set of rules.
